Image of the new Sony Ericsson Portable Bluetooth Speaker MBS-100 - Image 1Sony Ericsson has unveiled several new gadgets to entice the mobile geek in you. These new gadgets rely on the standard hands-free trend that a lot of music peripherals and mobiles are sporting nowadays.

Both utilizing the Bluetooth wireless network for its main features, Sony Ericsson introduces both the Portable Bluetooth Speaker MBS-100 and the Bluetooth Car Handsfree HCB-105. Both devices are designed to be compatible with all Sony Ericsson products, as well as other Bluetooth enabled music players and mobiles.

The MBS-100 portable speaker was designed for consumers who don't want to go through the hassle of setting up so many wires and cables just to listen to music. The speaker can directly stream music through Bluetooth from any mobile or compatible musical player. People can expect to find the MBS-100 on shelves sometime near the end of the year.

The HCB-105 car accessory allows people to talk to people while driving and lower the risks of on-road accidents. With its simple style and easy-to-use controls, everyone can expect those long road trips to pass by a little more quickly with this device. the HCB-105 is slated to be released during the first quarter of 2008.

Finally, Sony Ericsson will be featuring its two new flagship phones within the month. While both aren't exactly the rumored PSP phone the company is said to be developing, the K850 Cyber-shot phone and the W910 Walkman phone contain the best features of their respective alternative names (Cyber-shot and Walkman) while keeping all the standards of a Sony Ericsson mobile phone intact.

All in all, these are all hefty pieces of hardware Sony Ericsson will be bringing to the public once they finally hit shelves. Let's hope we still have enough money left in our bank accounts to get a hold of this smorgasbord of mobile devices.

300 - Image 1

For those of us who prefer their online gaming and internet surfing on the go, then this next gadget should be right up your alley: the G100, as revealed by POSDATA. Touted as the first ever mobile gaming device to take advantage of WiMAX, it's set to take the gaming world by storm - as not only does it offer high-speed internet surfing on the go, but also online gameplay that could turn out to be free of any lag whatsoever. Awesome.

So what does the G100 actually capable of? We're not sure of most of the details yet - that being, graphics and sound - but what we do know is that it will take advantage of WiMAX. WiMAX is essentially a more powerful version of Wi-Fi, with its range able to cover vast areas instead of just a few meters. This pretty much means that you'll be able to play online virtually anywhere - and you don't have to walk all over just to find an access point.

Looking at the G100, it certainly looks the part of a gaming handheld. It sports a four-inch touch sensitive screen, as well as a sliding eight-button control pad. Handy.

And if you're worried if it's just going to be a gaming device, fret not - besides WiMAX, it also supports both Wi-Fi and BlueTooth networks for added enjoyment - a great feature, considering that users can hook up the G100 to their laptops for access to any of those three networks.

Certainly a very cool new gadget from POSDATA. Updates as we get them!

Earlier, during the wake of the D: All Things Digital conference held in Carlsbad, California today, mobile device mogul Palm, Inc. and its co-founder Jeff Hawkins announced that they were going to reveal a new secret device that was either going to redefine the concept of mobile computing or introduce a "new category of mobile devices" available in the world today. Either way you see fit, Palm definitely pushed the envelope an inch further.

Palm's new secret device unveiled: the Foleo Mobile Companion - Image 1

That product codenamed the "Hawk," has been revealed far earlier than expected, after a press release accidentally leaked the info through its own news feed. Enter the smartphone: a computing device that is frequently eyed as the next desktop computer, but perfectly fits in your pocket.

Foleo Mobile Companion from Palm - Image 1Enter the Foleo: a sub-notebook device powered by Linux that hooks up (figuratively) to your smartphone, giving you all the aesthetics for computing, while providing all the convenience of mobility and Palm's new secret device.

The techie world of gadgets and gizmos is driven by size and portability, but Palm foresaw that contributing to the mobility of devices is fraught by two weaknesses that oppose miniaturization.

As things get smaller, people still want a manageable size of the device's screen and a roomy viewable area, while having an input interface that's more comfortable to a mobile computing consumer.

Palm introduced the Foleo as a filler to that grey line between mobility and computing experience, offering a solution to syncing emails, providing wireless web surfing and image browsing on a laptop that couldn't be bigger than an average-sized paperback notebook.

The Foleo stays connected to your smartphone through a Bluetooth connection, allowing it to quickly extract emails sent to your smartphone, while using the phone's own Internet access for a unique mobile surfing experience. The perfectly laid-out keyboard and 10-inch diagonal-wide screen allows for an easy viewing experience, while allowing you to reply to emails or browse the Web right where you are, at that very moment.

Ó

Taken by Raul Medina DiazThe Washington Research Foundation just sued a couple of phone companies for allegedly infringing on  their patents. The weird thing is, they're suing for patent infringement over Bluetooth technology.

The Foundation sued Nokia, Panasonic, and Samsung, saying that the companies "have manufactured, used, imported into the United States, sold and offered for sale devices which, or the use of which, infringes at least the '963' patent."

Most of the companies in the suit have been unable to comment as of yet, though a Nokia spokesperson has said they're looking into the claims.

On a related note, the suit's targets were devices that used CSR-brand Bluetooth chips, though they haven't sued CSR for these infringements, whatever they may be.
